Appearance

Body

Andrew is a thin, pale-skinned boy, with emerald green eyes, black unruly hair, and a black, slightly over-sized T-shirt. His neck is thin and he shows a vast array of expressions, most of which are concerned, annoyed, or panicked.

In-Game Sprite

His sprite, like the other characters, is a stoical, greyscale, pixel-art, version of him.

Personality

Andy is characterized by his submissive nature and perceived lack of assertiveness, earning him the label of being "spineless." This trait becomes evident in Episode 1: The Coffin, where he succumbs to pressure and locks Nina in a crate at Leyley's behest. Known for his rule-abiding nature, Andy carefully considers his actions.

Despite his submissive tendencies, Andy displays a nurturing and caring side towards Leyley, acting as her anchor. However, he often finds himself irritated or angered by her unpredictable behavior. Intelligent for his age, Andy approaches situations with logic and serves as the voice of reason in their dynamic. His ability to balance responsibility, intelligence, and emotional support positions him as a central figure in the narrative.

Background

Ashley (Andrew) is the eldest child in the Graves family, born to Mr. and Mrs. Graves as a result of a teenage pregnancy. The family dynamic took an unexpected turn when Leyley (Ashley) entered the picture, forcing Andy into the position of both an older brother and caretaker. The absence of their parents during their formative years placed the responsibility squarely on Andy's shoulders.

Growing up in this challenging environment, Andy and Leyley became inseparable. The combination of their close bond and Andy's early caregiving role fostered an unusually co-dependent and toxic relationship. The intricacies of their upbringing, marked by premature parental responsibilities and a lack of conventional parental guidance, significantly influenced the complex interdependence that defines their connection.

Relationships

Leyley

Leyley is Andy's younger sibling. Her assertive personality often compels him to comply with her requests. Andy notices and feels a sense of injustice at the disparate treatment he receives compared to Leyley from their parents. In an effort to bridge this gap, he goes above and beyond, purchasing gifts for Leyley and watching rented movies with her.

Andy experienced the desire for independence and freedom to socialize with friends, a sentiment hindered by Leyley's attachment. On occasion, their mother played a role in their intense attachment. Oftentimes lending Leyley off to Andy to deal with her, when their mother grew tired of her behavior.

Andy was claimed to be the "easy child"[1] which led to his parents favoritism. Despite their favoritism he was still neglected. During childhood their parents were still absent throughout his childhood and he frequently stayed home alone with Leyley. His parents entrusted him with chores such as grocery shopping and cooking. He was treated with birthday parties and it's implied that he was very sociable, with his friends being invited to his parties.

Mrs. Graves did take note of his and Leyley's odd codependency but at the time dismissed it as them getting along. [2]

Mr. Graves was absent in his son's life. Even at one point calling Andy by a different name, "Anders". Andy regards his father in a negative light due to his dormant nature.
